  2.              MediaPhile Software Installation Guide

  5. All MediaPhile users should read "NOTES FOR ALL SYSTEMS" located at the end
  6. of this file.

  9.  Floppy Disk Systems:
  10.   1. Prepare a MediaPhile  Amiga  workbench disk startup sequence by 
  11.      running the "FloppyStartup"  program on the "MediaPhile_Devs"
  12.      disk, or by entering the following assignment statements into the 
  13.      workbench startup sequence in the file "s:startup-sequence" yourself.

  33.      Now the system LIBS:, DEVS: and fonts: volumes will be on the
  34.  MediaPhile_Devs disk, and the "Run" command is made resident in RAM.
  35.  
  36.   2. Boot the system with your MediaPhile Workbench disk in DF0:
  37.      (the internal disk drive). Follow the system requests for disk 
  38.      insertion.
  39.   3. Insert the MediaPhile_Devs disk in the second disk drive for two drive 
  40.      systems when it is requested .  If you are using  a single drive 
  41.      system replace the  Workbench disk in drive DF0: with the 
  42.      MediaPhile_Devs disk when it is requested.
  43.   4. Replace the Workbench disk with the MediaPhile disk after the boot 
  44.      startup procedure is complete . Open the MediaPhile  disk icon by 
  45.      clicking twice with the left mouse button. Run the MediaController 
  46.      and MediaEditor programs by clicking on their icons.

  48. Amiga 500, 2000 and 2500 Hard Disk Systems:
  49.   1. Boot the system from the hard drive.
  50.   2. Open the MediaPhile_Devs disk and click the "Install_DevsHD" program
  51.      icon. Wait for the install program to copy the "devs/media" directory 
  52.      files from the MediaPhile_Devs disk to the Hard Disk "Devs:media" 
  53.      directory.
  54.   3. Click the "Install_LibsHD" program  icon on the MediaPhile_Devs disk 
  55.      and wait for the install program to copy the MediaPhile libraries 
  56.      to the Hard Disk disk  "libs:" directory.
  57.   4. Run the "Install_MediaPhileHD" program located on your MediaPhile_Devs 
  58.      disk. This program creates a directory drawer called "MediaPhile" 
  59.      in the "Work:" area of your hard disk to hold your MediaPhile programs 
  60.      and files. It creates sub-directories for the "MediaPhile:" and 
  61.      "MediaPhile_Devs" disks under the "Work:MediaPhile"directory and copies 
  62.      the entire contents of the disks into their respective directories.

  65.   5. Modify the Hard Disk "Startup-Sequence" program found in the "s:" 
  66.      directory by adding the statements

  80.   6. Reboot the system and run any of the programs in your MediaPhile 
  81.      directories.

  85. Amiga 3000 Hard Disk Systems:
  86.   1. Run the "Install_MediaPhileHD" program  to  copy the  contents of 
  87.      the "MediaPhile_Devs" disk and "MediaPhile" disk to the work: area 
  88.      of your hard drive. 
  89.  
  90.   2. The Amiga 30000 Workbench hard disk partition 
  91.      does not have enough room to hold the  MediaPhile devices  and 
  92.      libraries as  it is shipped from the factory. Therefore, the active 
  93.      devs: and libs: areas must be located on the work: hard disk volume.
  94.  
  95.      Run the Install_3000HD program located on your MediaPhile disk to copy
  96.      the files in your workbench devs and libs directories into the 
  97.      "Work:MediaPhile/MediaPhile_Devs" devs and libs dircetories. This will
  98.      make all of the device and library files that you have been 
  99.      using up until now available to the system when the active devs: and
  100.      libs: areas are re-assigned to the work: volume.

  102.     3.Next modify your hard disk startup sequence as described in item 5 
  103.       above. For the Amiga 3000  include  the additional MediaPhile assign 
  104.       statements below:
  105.  
  106.              assign DEVS: Work:MediaPhile/MediaPhile_Devs/devs
  107.              assign LIBS: Work:MediaPhile/MediaPhile_Devs/libs
  108.  
  109.      This will assign the system LIBS: and DEVS: volumes to  
  110.      "Work:MediaPhile/MediaPhile_Devs" libs and devs directories when 
  111.      the system is booted up.

  115. NOTES FOR ALL SYSTEMS:
  116.  
  117. Some programs and utilities conflict with the normal operation of the
  118. MediaPhile system.  The following is a list of programs known to be
  119. incompatible with the operation of MediaPhile programs:
  120.  
  121.     SetCPU      SetCPU is a public domain utility and is distributed with
  122.                 all GVP accelerator boards.  Any version prior to 1.60 does
  123.                 not allow MediaController to run from its icon. 
  124.                 MediaController can be  run from either MediaEditor or 
  125.                 the CLI.  This utilitiy may also cause MediaProcessor to 
  126.                 crash on start-up. Look for SetCPU to be run from your 
  127.                 start-up sequence when the system is booted up. Remove
  128.                 versions earlier than 1.60 from the start-up sequence.

  130.                 Versions 1.60 and later are compatible with MediaPhile
  131.                 programs.

  133.     Grabbit     This hot-key activated screen grab program will prevent
  134.                 MediaController from running.  If you need to run
  135.                 MediaController and Grabbit at the same time, run
  136.                 MediaController first before loading Grabbit.
